“Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized" Acts 2:38
Since you’ve made the best decision that you will ever make in your life, it’s time for us to celebrate your new life in Christ! You may be asking, how do we do that? We celebrate it by going public! We celebrate it by sealing it with the symbol and the ordinance of Baptism.
Baptism is a public display of our personal decision. It is an outward demonstration of our inward faith in Christ. By getting, we are following the example set by Jesus Christ. Mark 1:9 talks about how Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River.
We are also illustrating Christ’s death and resurrection for Romans 6:4 states “By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead...so also, we may live a new life!”
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer — it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is an outward symbol of the inward commitment that you’ve made in your heart.
